Repositioning a Manufacturing Partner: Company Introduction

I-Liang specializes in plastic injection molding, serving a diverse range of industries including textile machinery components, electric meter parts, airsoft equipment, and diving accessories. Unlike traditional manufacturers, I-Liang has maintained a close and long-standing collaboration with the industrial design sector. With the ability to assist design teams throughout the entire process—from concept to production—the company offers high flexibility and professional insight, especially in small-batch manufacturing and early-stage production consultation. Through this website redesign, the team aims to better position I-Liang as a development partner for designers and creative studios.

Bridging the Gap Between Brand and Industry Perception: Project Background & Challenges

Our research revealed a significant gap between I-Liang’s brand character and the conventional perception of the plastic manufacturing industry. Their previous collaborations with designers, such as seasonal promotional gifts and design-led initiatives—including participation in the IDDI (Industry x Design Driven Innovation) program—demonstrate a strong affinity for creativity and innovation. However, these qualities were not effectively conveyed on their existing website, missing an opportunity to engage meaningfully with the design community.

The current site focused heavily on showcasing components, lacking real project examples or application context. As a result, it failed to communicate the full value of I-Liang’s role as a production consultant capable of bridging design and manufacturing. For designers seeking partners who understand design language and are open to small-batch production, I-Liang’s capabilities remained under the radar.

Facing a saturated and price-driven market in Taiwan’s plastic injection industry, I-Liang made a strategic decision not to compete on cost. Instead, they sought to evolve their business model by adding value through enhanced services, deepening ties with the design community, and exploring new R&D-led approaches to stay ahead.

Designing a New Entry Point for Creative Collaboration: Project Outcomes

We redefined the website’s purpose—not merely as a showcase of manufacturing capabilities, but as a gateway for design-driven collaboration. The visual direction intentionally breaks away from the rigid, heavy aesthetic often associated with traditional manufacturing. Instead, it adopts a visual language that speaks directly to industrial designers: modular layouts, clean navigation, and generous white space convey I-Liang’s flexibility, openness, and thoughtful design approach. This shift repositions the brand and challenges conventional views of the injection molding industry.

On the content side, we emphasized I-Liang’s strengths in small-batch production and full-process support. We reserved space for showcasing collaborations and new product features, aligning with designers’ browsing habits and decision-making styles. Looking ahead, the site will introduce new tools such as the “3D Texture Swatch”—highlighting I-Liang’s commitment to design-led experimentation and innovation.

This project is more than a visual redesign. It marks a redefinition of the company’s brand role and strategic direction. With a clearer voice and stronger positioning, I-Liang is now equipped to communicate its unique value, setting the stage for expanding its design team and exploring new business models in the near future.
