VB Kunlun Global Capital Ltd is an international financial services company that specializes in providing diversified financial products to the overseas Asian community. Pride themselves on the professional and disciplined approach to financial markets, as is evidenced by the granting of authorizations and licenses by regulators in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Hong Kong.‍ KVB contacted Tenten with a project to revamp its real-time foreign exchange trading app, with coverage of 12 major global currencies and comprehensive feeds of the latest financial information worldwide. Our mission is to offer a well structured real-time information, a user-friendly experience hence to aid in the decision as to investors.‍ This is Tenten's first-time cross-border collaboration project, and we appreciated and were excited about this project because this was also our very first project across the industry- finance.

What we did

The focus of this project mostly centered on UI design to give a brand new image on this app revamp. The original app was produced by a group of engineers from KVB, we evaluated the existing app and identified several aspects which needed improving, for example, the structural integrity, UI usability and user flow.

As the project was relatively challenging due to the tight schedule, we put on our Tenten spirit to work on it: Not working hard but smart. We overcame this challenge by adopting SASS tools such as PasteApp, Overflow, Zeplin, Zoom, and Slack app integration to efficiently work on the project and better communicate with and present user flow with our cross-border clients. For example, using Overflow, it allowed the clients to see a birds-eye view perspective, understand how design screens were linked, and experience the user journey from start to end.

Emphasize on user interface

Based on the requirements from the client along with our design research of target audience user behaviors, we digested and analyzed data during the first stage. Base on a reasonable, polished user experience, we created a clean, neat infographic. Also, we prioritize the information on the interface, to make sure user understand the product’s objective and reach the right information.

Better user experience

A new style UI kit crafted by Tenten keeps the visual consistency. The use of vivid colors, gradients, float cards UI design to infuse energy and dynamism successfully makes the app stand out from the crowd. With the improved user flow, the new app offers better visual design and more importantly better user experience.

More than an interface

As we believe that finances shouldn’t just be cold data on an app interface, we emphasize the connection between the user and the brand. By simplifying the user interface to their most core functional elements, it achieved a more refined user experience, bridging the user and the brand closely.
